Mission

The Office of Housing and Residence Life will promote and create educational programs and resources to enhance the development of students holistically and as members of an academic community. The Department of Housing and Residence Life recognizes that students living in a residence hall, apartment, and Greek house is an integral part of the total educational process.

 

Housing and Residence Life will promote personal growth, respect for others, and responsibility within the community among resident students.

Housing and Residence Life will communicate and enforce policies with the residence halls, apartments and Greek houses which benefit the educational pursuits of all students.

Housing and Residence Life will attempt to provide residence halls, apartments and Greek houses that are appealing and safe.

 

Vision

The Department of Housing and Residence Life will teach students fundamental principles of respect, responsibility, and good citizenship.  Housing and Residence Life will promote the rights and responsibilities of the community.  All students who live in the Mercer’s Housing and Residence Life community will respect individual differences, and strive to understand others.  The department will treat students as responsible autonomous adults.  Housing and Residence Life will value student input, and make decisions with a student centered focus.
